Women Only Adventure Race Lysterfield 2024 Wrap-Up: Celebrating Strength, Connection, and the Power of Adventure

sprint series adventure race

The Women Only Adventure Race at Lysterfield was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of strength, resilience, and the shared joy of adventure. With 120 teams taking on a challenging course, the event brought women of all ages and fitness levels together to create unforgettable memories.

Claiming first place was Team Giggling Geese, featuring renowned adventure racer Kim Willocks and her 11-year-old daughter, Ashley Provan. The duo crossed the finish line in an impressive 2 hours and 16 minutes. Ashley brought smiles to everyone with her cheeky comment, "Mum slowed me down a lot!" Kim, who conquered the world’s toughest adventure races a decade ago, has since embraced a new journey—raising three children and sharing her passion for adventure with her family.

Second place went to Navi Babies, with Jen Bradshaw and Leti Sammut. Leti took on the navigation single-handedly, impressing everyone with her determination and skill. Jen, a seasoned racer herself, was thrilled with their teamwork, reflecting on the unique bond created through the experience.

This race was about more than competition—it highlighted the profound importance of adventure in every woman’s life. Adventure challenges us to step outside our comfort zones, discover hidden strengths, and embrace the unknown. It becomes even more meaningful when shared with people who matter most, as seen in the powerful connections formed and celebrated during this event.

The finish line was a sea of strong emotions—tears of joy, laughter, and pride—as teams completed the tough course together. The journey wasn’t just about physical achievement; it was about building confidence, deepening relationships, and proving that adventure is for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
