Peak Adventure Junkie in China

26-28 of April Team Peak Adventure Junkie is racing in Chinese Baise Leye Outdoor Quest.

   Before the race | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Team consists of Jarad Kohlar, Ian Franzke, Serge Kurov and Maria Plyashechko.

It's three days stage race through the mountainous and quite picturesque region of Guahgxi Province.

Course is divided into 3 stages, the total distance is 220 km.

Disciplines include running, mountain biking, kayaking, rope related activities (abseil or zip line), some puzzle solving and Chinese national games.

There is other very competitive Australian team Moxie Gear/ Nuun racing: Deanna Blegg, Darren Clarke, Tim Boote and Alex Hunt.

Besides, overall field looks good: Thule team (France, NZ, Sweden), FJS (competitive and very experienced Swedish team), Latvian team Ebike.lv,  French team Merrell VP, traditionally strong Chinese teams.

Everyone is excited and looking forward to start.

Race schedule looks good: every day we start not earlier than at 8:30, which is quite comfortable for us taking into account 2 hour time difference with Melbourne.

Thursday we had a gear check, that went fine: little issues with health certificates were solved very easy with a help of our friends of Moxie Gear/Nuun team.

Briefing is at 7 PM tonight and then we have to prepare our gear boxed for transportation for the 1st day.

Friday is the first day of the race will start from the opening ceremony on the main square of Leye city with huge parade and us a funnymen or celebrities for locals, a lot of dancing in bright consumes, speeches of representatives of Chinese Government.

Course of Day 1 doesn't sounds hard from the first look and consists of 3 km run, then some games/puzzles/climbing wall (hard to say exactly what it is), then 30 km MTB (80% off -road in this section according our race information) and then 8 km run with caving, abseiling and no one knows what else as leading time for this run is 110 minutes.

Weather at this stage is pretty nice: not too hot, although humid as always.
