Women Only Adventure Race Lysterfield 2025 wrap up
Lysterfield showed its wild personality for this year’s Women Only Adventure Race, serving up icy winds, plenty of mud and a persistent chill that pushed every team to dig deep.
Yet even in the worst weather, the atmosphere on course was everything this event is known for — pure positivity, shared laughter, and that unbeatable adventure racing spirit.
Participants tackled a thrilling course featuring 23 checkpoints spread across Lysterfield’s winding trails, forest tracks and a few cheeky off-trail surprises. With two maps to manage, teams had to stay focused, communicate clearly, and navigate smartly to choose the best routes.
The race rolled out in three waves, and in an exciting twist, the fastest team of the day emerged from the final start. The extraordinary mother-daughter pair — Kim Willocks, one of Australia’s most accomplished adventure racers, and her daughter Jordan — stormed through the course, sweeping up every bonus checkpoint and finishing with huge smiles and unstoppable momentum.
Right behind them, taking second overall and first in the Masters category, were the seasoned and consistently strong YOLO Adventures duo, Leesa Riley and Jen Bradshaw, who powered through the challenging conditions with style.
The Open category title went to the fantastic Sweat Sisters, Claire Hartly and Laura Kasperszyk, who also claimed third place overall — an outstanding achievement in a fiercely competitive field.
While the racing was tight across all divisions, the true highlight of the day was the atmosphere — mud-splattered grins, supportive shouts across the bush, and that deep sense of achievement that only comes from taking on nature at its rawest.
This race exists to give women and girls their own adventure-filled day — a chance to step outside, try something bold, and discover what they’re capable of together. It’s less about speed and more about joy, confidence, community, and the thrill of exploring side by side. Whether racing with friends, daughters, sisters or brand-new teammates, everyone shared in the fun and excitement of hunting checkpoints and celebrating at the finish line.
And despite the rough weather — or perhaps inspired by it — the event was overflowing with teamwork, resilience and the pure happiness that comes from embracing adventure. Every team that crossed the line truly earned their champion status.
