Adventure racing is one of the newest exciting endurance sports, and we're proud to be the number one provider of adventure racing experiences in Australia.

Adventure racing is one of the most thrilling, team-based endurance sports in the world. Combining trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, and navigation, adventure races challenge teams to find checkpoints scattered across wild terrain using only a map and compass. There are no course markings, no GPS, and no shortcuts—just you, your teammate, and nature.

What Is an Adventure Race? Discover the Ultimate Team Challenge

Unlike other multisport events, adventure races are designed around the journey, not just the finish line. Races can last anywhere from 2 hours to 24 hours or more, depending on the format. No two courses are the same, and the emphasis is always on resilience, teamwork, and outdoor skills.

Quick Guide: How to Become an Adventure Racer

Getting into adventure racing is easier than you think. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to get started:

  1. Pick a beginner-friendly race. Choose a Sprint Series Adventure Race or Women Only Adventure Race in your area—ideal for newcomers.
  2. Find a teammate. Most races require teams of two. Find someone you trust and who shares your sense of adventure.
  3. Get familiar with the disciplines. Practice trail running, mountain biking, and kayaking. Kayaks are usually provided.
  4. Learn to navigate. You’ll use a compass and map—no GPS allowed. Attend an optional pre-race session.
  5. Gear up. Basic gear includes a hydration pack, headlamp, MTB, helmet, and trail shoes. Borrow or rent gear to start.
  6. Register and go! Sign up via Adventure Junkie and get ready for a fun, memorable experience.

You don’t have to race to win—just race to finish. Adventure racing is about discovering how far you can go, together.
